SUCCESS

SUCCESS (Supporting Children's Competencies in Emotional and Social Skills) provides infant and early childhood mental health consultation (IECMHC) to support children, families, and early learning programs throughout Rhode Island. IECMHC promotes nurturing relationships and enhances the capacity of staff, families, programs, and systems to prevent, identify and address the social, emotional, and behavioral health needs of young children (newborn to 5 years). SUCCESS is jointly funded by the Rhode Island Department of Education and Rhode Island Department of Human Services.

SUCCESS Services

SUCCESS offers free infant and early childhood mental health consultation (IECMHC) services. These include the following.

Child-Focused Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation

Child-Focused IECMHC supports the needs of individual children whose development or behavior is of concern to families or early care and education staff. In this model, a SUCCESS consultant helps a child’s caregivers understand, contextualize, and address the child’s social and emotional needs by developing and implementing an individualized plan. This service is available to center-based early learning programs in Rhode Island.

Classroom- and Program-Focused IECMHC

Classroom- and program-focused IECMHC promotes classroom and program-wide social, emotional, and behavioral health goals via coordination of care teams. In this model, a SUCCESS consultant facilitates reflective discussion and problem-solving about the social, emotional, and behavioral needs within whole classrooms and programs. This service is offered to DHS-licensed and RI PreK center-based programs. Please contact us for additional information.

Family Child Care Provider Consultation

SUCCESS for Family Child Care Providers is offered via the Early Childhood Mental Health Workshop Series. This series includes educational content, reflective discussion, and collaborative problem solving focused on early childhood mental health topics. Professional development credit is offered through the Center for Early Learning Professionals.

Rhode Island Reflective Supervision Series

The Rhode Island Reflective Supervision Series includes an 8-hour foundational training and a monthly workshop focused on enhancing supervisors’ reflective supervision skills and competencies. Supervising professionals within DHS-licensed early care and education programs are eligible to participate. Professional development credit via the Center for Early Learning Professionals is offered.

SUCCESS Staff

SUCCESS is staffed by infant and early childhood mental health consultants (IECMHCs) employed by Bradley Hospital. Our IECMHCs are graduate-level professionals who have expertise in early childhood mental health and experience providing consultation to early learning programs.
