Neuropsychological Assessment

A neuropsychological assessment examines a wide range of how children think and the different functions of the brain. This often includes evaluating children’s reasoning, attention, memory, and processing skills. This information is used to help families better understand their child’s strengths and weaknesses as well as to identify ways to help support their learning and development.

At our clinic, we evaluate children and adolescents with the following conditions:

• Brain tumor or other forms of cancer
• Seizures or epilepsy
• Brain infections (e.g. encephalitis, meningitis)
• Traumatic brain injury and concussion
• Stroke and  Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM)
• Environmental toxic exposures (lead, mercury, fetal alcohol syndrome)
• Genetic and metabolic disorders 
• Anoxia/hypoxia (lack of oxygen to the brain)
• Hydrocephalus 
• Prematurity and/or low birth weight 
• Sickle cell disease
• Other medical conditions or treatments impacting brain function 
• Other developmental or psychiatric conditions impacting thinking, attention, behavior, socialization or emotional control
