The division of nephrology provides inpatient and outpatient services for patients with renal and electrolyte disorders. Our facilities include the Transplant Center at Rhode Island Hospital, dialysis units at Rhode Island and The Miriam hospitals, outpatient offices, a nephrology library, clinical research unit and modern research laboratories.
Our three main missions are:
To provide state-of-the-art care for patients with renal and electrolyte disorders
To teach nephrology to medical students, house officers and renal fellows
To perform clinical and basic research

Rhode Island Hospital’s outpatient dialysis program cares for patients with chronic kidney disease.
Nephrology Fellowship Program
The division was established in 1966 is a teaching division for The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, and offers a fellowship program at Rhode Island and The Miriam hospitals.
