Service Area and Availability

LifePACT is the premier provider of critical care transport services in Rhode Island, serving areas within 150 miles of Providence, RI. The LifePACT fleet includes two critical care ground ambulances available 24/7/365 for interfacility transfers, intercept services, and scene response. The transport team is prepared to dispatch within 10 minutes with each vehicle configured to transport one patient at a time.

Crew Configuration

The transport team includes critical care transport physicians, nurses, paramedics, and emergency medical technicians (EMTs). Each transport includes a critical care paramedic, nurse or physician, and an EMT or paramedic.

The LifePACT critical care teams work autonomously to perform advanced medical procedures and pharmacology-based decisions, with protocols developed by and under the supervision of our medical directors.

Paramedics and nurses complete an extensive and comprehensive orientation program that includes supervised transports, medical equipment competencies, and both didactic and simulation training.

EMTs complete a comprehensive program that includes supervised transports, equipment competencies and Emergency Vehicle Operations Certification.

Crew Training

All critical care providers have a minimum of three years of relevant emergency and/or critical care experience including adult and pediatrics. LifePACT critical care nurses and paramedics are certified in BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, PHTLS/TNCC, and maintain high level professional certification status.

Crew members undergo an intense initial training program and competency verification process. Ongoing training requirements include simulation, didactic, clinical rotation, discussion forums, skills application sessions, and annual competencies.

Patient Population Served

LifePACT provides transport services for pediatric (at or over 5.5 pounds) and adult patients.

For patients outside the defined population, LifePACT will assist with coordinating with specialty care partners.
