Selection is based upon your needs and preferences. Search results will first present, in alphabetical order, physicians employed or contracted with Brown University Health or its affiliates, followed by an alphabetical listing of physicians who are in Brown University Health’s network of affiliated providers. At the end of that initial list, you can access an alphabetical listing of community physicians with privileges at Brown University Health hospitals. All physicians in Find a Doctor have the opportunity to have a picture or video posted on the site. Neither the order of physicians, nor the presence or absence of a photo or video, in Find a Doctor is intended to reflect any preference, priority, or recommendation by Brown University Health. Find a Doctor search results are also not based on the volume or value of referrals to Brown University Health or its affiliates from any listed physician. Users are free to select their physician of choice from among all Brown University Health-affiliated medical staff physicians.

Syed A. Rizvi, MD
Director, Multiple Sclerosis Center of Rhode Island
Syed Rizvi, MD, is the director of the Multiple Sclerosis Center of Rhode Island and a professor of clinical neurosciences at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. He is board certified in neurology and internal medicine.
Dr. Rizvi has been a principal investigator in numerous multiple sclerosis clinical trials and has been published in a variety of peer-reviewed journals. He is co-editor of the book Clinical Immunology: Multiple Sclerosis and Related Disorders.
Dr. Rizvi earned his medical degree at Dow Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan, and completed a residency in both internal medicine and neurology at Stony Brook University Hospital in Stony Brook, New York. He continued his training with a fellowship in multiple sclerosis and neuroimmunology at Stony Brook. Dr. Rizvi also received an executive master’s degree in healthcare leadership from the Brown University School of Professional Studies.
He is director of the clinical multiple sclerosis fellowship at Rhode Island Hospital and The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
Dr. Rizvi is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Rhode Island Medical Society, and the Rhode Island Neurological Society.
