“Find a Doctor” is operated by Brown University Health and includes all physicians who are on the medical staffs of Brown University Health-affiliated hospitals, without any charge to them. Selection is based upon your needs and preferences. Search results will first present, in alphabetical order, physicians employed or contracted with Brown University Health or its affiliates, followed by an alphabetical listing of physicians who are in Brown University Health’s network of affiliated providers. At the end of that initial list, you can access an alphabetical listing of community physicians with privileges at Brown University Health hospitals. All physicians in Find a Doctor have the opportunity to have a picture or video posted on the site. Neither the order of physicians, nor the presence or absence of a photo or video, in Find a Doctor is intended to reflect any preference, priority, or recommendation by Brown University Health. Find a Doctor search results are also not based on the volume or value of referrals to Brown University Health or its affiliates from any listed physician. Users are free to select their physician of choice from among all Brown University Health-affiliated medical staff physicians.

Sarah Schmidhofer, MD

Sarah Schmidhofer, MD, is co-director of the Adult Partial Hospital Program at Rhode Island Hospital. She is a psychiatrist with Brown Health Medical Group and a clinical assistant professor of medicine and psychiatry and human behavior at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
She completed her medical degree with a concentration in contemplative studies at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. She completed her psychiatry residency, where she served as chief resident, at Brown University, as well. Dr. Schmidhofer was a research fellow at the Mind and Life Summer Research Institute in Garrison, New York, and was named to the Gold Humanism Honors Society.
Dr. Schmidhofer’s research and clinical interests include the role of yoga, meditation, and mindfulness in medicine and psychiatry, as well as working with young adult and LGBTQIA+ populations. She has contributed to both professional publications and book chapters.
Her memberships in professional organizations include the International Network of Integrative Mental Health, Same Here Global, the Academic Consortium for Integrative Medicine and Health, and the Integrative Psychiatry Institute.
Dr. Schmidhofer is an ISHTA Yoga master teacher (RYT-500) and has advanced meditation training.
