M. Catherine Trimbur, MD, MPH, is a board-certified physician in addiction medicine, palliative care and internal medicine team and sees patients at the Brown University Health Center for Primary Care.

Dr. Trimbur earned her bachelor’s degree from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, and her medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in Rochester, New York. Dr. Trimbur also holds a master of public health degree in sociomedical sciences from Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health in New York, New York. She completed her residency at Montefiore Medical Center/Einstein School of Medicine in Social Internal Medicine and did her fellowship at the University of California San Francisco School of Medicine in Palliative Care.

Dr. Trimbur is an assistant professor of medicine at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. She has presented nationally and published widely in peer-reviewed journals and serves on several hospital and university committees, including the Center for Primary Care Pain Committee, Brown University Health Sickle Cell Center Trauma Informed Care, and Brown University Race and Medicine Working Group. She is the medical director of the Transitions Clinic at the Center for Primary Care, where she provides biopsychosocial care for patients with a history of incarceration alongside a team of community health worker and peer recovery specialists.
