Search results will first present, in alphabetical order, physicians employed or contracted with Brown University Health or its affiliates, followed by an alphabetical listing of physicians who are in Brown University Health’s network of affiliated providers. At the end of that initial list, you can access an alphabetical listing of community physicians with privileges at Brown University Health hospitals. All physicians in Find a Doctor have the opportunity to have a picture or video posted on the site. Neither the order of physicians, nor the presence or absence of a photo or video, in Find a Doctor is intended to reflect any preference, priority, or recommendation by Brown University Health. Find a Doctor search results are also not based on the volume or value of referrals to Brown University Health or its affiliates from any listed physician. Leah Jean McDonald, MD
Leah McDonald, MD, is a palliative medicine physician in the emergency department at The Miriam Hospital. Dr. McDonald has served as a hospice and palliative physician at Hope Health in Providence, Rhode Island, where she completed a fellowship in hospice and palliative medicine at Rhode Island Hospital. It was during this experience that she developed a keen interest in the value of the sensitive, yet necessary, end-of-life conversation with patients often had in the emergency department.
Dr. McDonald completed her residency in emergency medicine at New York University / Bellevue Hospital Emergency Medicine. She earned a medical degree at Tufts University School of Medicine, Boston.
As a clinical physician, Dr. McDonald has worked with Brown Emergency Medicine and at Falmouth Hospital, located on Cape Cod in Massachusetts.
Dr. McDonald is a member of several professional organizations including the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine, and the American College of Emergency Physicians.
