William (Bill) Schmiedeknecht is senior vice president, human resources and chief human resources officer for Brown University Health. Prior to his current role, he served as vice president of human resources, business partnerships and labor relations at Brown University Health.
As the senior human resources executive for the Brown University Health system, Schmiedeknecht oversees all human resources operations, including talent development, benefits, compensation, and all employee experience functions.
Before joining Brown University Health, he was the senior vice president of human resources and administration at Bradford Soap Works and the assistant vice chancellor of human resources at UMass Medical School. His first leadership role was as a non-commissioned officer serving in the US armed forces.
Schmiedeknecht holds a bachelor of science degree in business administration and a master of science degree in human resources and labor relations from the University of Rhode Island.
