As executive vice president and chief financial officer for Brown University Health, Peter Markell is responsible for providing financial and administrative leadership across the Brown University Health system.
Markell previously served as executive vice president of administration and finance, and chief financial officer and treasurer at Mass General Brigham, where he was a leading executive from 1999 until 2021. He was responsible for financial oversight of $14 billion in operations with assets of approximately $21 billion, and managed teams within the areas of corporate finance, research management, information systems, real estate, treasury, and human resources.
Markell is a certified public accountant (CPA) and holds a bachelor of science degree with concentrations in accounting and finance from Boston College.
