Patricia Carreiro, RN, MSN

Clinical Manager, Patient Access Brown University Health

Patricia Carreiro, RN, MSN, is the clinical manager of patient access for Brown University Health.

Carreiro earned her bachelor of science in nursing from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts and her master of science in nursing leadership and administration from Capella University in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Carreiro has spent her entire professional career working for Brown University Health. She started as a staff nurse on Children’s Four at Hasbro Children’s in 1991, then transitioned to staff nurse in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Hasbro Children’s in 1999. From there, Carreiro became the assistant clinical manager of the Pediatric Transport team at Rhode Island Hospital in 2006 moving in 2009 to the clinical manager position of Express Care, LifePACT, and the Medical Communication Center. In March 2020, she took on the role of clinical manager of a COVID testing site, as well as the manager of operations for an alternative hospital site in October 2020.  She currently holds the position of clinical operations manager for patient access for the Brown system.

When she began her role in 2009, she was tasked with creation and implementation of a transfer and access center and critical care transport team for Rhode Island Hospital. In 2012 she expanded the transfer and access center to coordinate the transfer process for The Miriam Hospital, and in 2018 she did the same for the Newport Hospital. Carreiro also works in collaboration with referring institutions to advance relationships between Brown University Health and key stakeholders to increase access to Brown University Health service lines for patients within Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts, among many other things. She is also a member of Sigma Theta Tau, and American Academy of Pediatrics.
