The Breastfeeding Medicine Program of Brown Health Medical Group, Obstetrics and Gynecology offers comprehensive, individualized treatment for women who are experiencing complicated breastfeeding issues. Our team collaborates with pediatric providers and lactation consultants within the region to provide coordinated breastfeeding support.

Many moms experience challenges with breastfeeding along the way. We are here to help make breastfeeding easier and to empower moms to achieve their personal breastfeeding goals.
Patients in the Breastfeeding Medicine Program receive the support and care of a multidisciplinary team of experts. Our program features two locations and gives patients convenient access to the full array of programs, resources and services that comprise the collaborative.
We recognize that not all problems related to breastfeeding require the assistance of a physician. Our mission in the Breastfeeding Medicine Program is to support the individual mother in her breastfeeding experience. We promote the general and individualized breastfeeding support that can be obtained through local hospital maternity services; La Leche League International; Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) programs; as well as other community agencies and private lactation consultant services.
Courtney Clark Bilodeau, MD, FACP, works in collaboration with a team of specialists, including obstetricians, endocrinologists, breast health providers, behavioral medicine providers, nutritionists, and physical therapists to address each patient’s individual needs.
Should all women breastfeed? Health care providers agree that breastfeeding is one of the healthiest choices a mother can make for herself and her child. But many moms experience challenges with breastfeeding along the way.
