The Lifespan Cancer Institute’s Sanjay Mishra, MS, PhD, recently earned recognition for his writing from the 2023 Eric and Wendy Schmidt Awards for Excellence in Science Communications, given by the National Academies and Schmidt Futures. The award highlights Dr. Mishra's ability to cover diverse scientific topics in his work and communicate complex scientific concepts effectively.
“This award is a thrilling reassurance that premiere national institutions value and care about science communication and want to encourage popular science writing,” said Mishra, a research program manager at the Lifespan Cancer Institute and a research associate in medicine at Brown University. “Through my writing, I like to share my joy of scientific discoveries, and I like to explain to my readers the science behind the discoveries. This ‘Award for Excellence in Science Communications’ is a recognition of these efforts.”
Since joining Lifespan in September 2022, Dr. Mishra has written more than a dozen articles on a wide range of medical topics, from why COVID-19 causes brain fog to why some people like to exercise more than others.
