Vascular Neurologist

Ana-Lucia Garcia Guarniz is a vascular neurologist with the Comprehensive Stroke Center at Rhode Island Hospital.

Dr. Garcia-Guarniz has presented at numerous conferences and collaborated on medical research published in academic journals. Her accolades include the Heitman Young Investigator Career Development Award at Massachusetts General Hospital, and The Lawrence M. Brass Stroke Research Training Scholarship in Stroke provided by the American Academy of Neurology and American Heart Association. 

She earned a medical degree from the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia’s Medical School in Lima, Peru. Dr. Garcia Guarniz also earned a certificate in applied biostatistics from Harvard University (Harvard Catalyst). She completed her medical training through Harvard Medical School, starting with a post-doctoral research fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, followed by an internal medicine internship at Massachusetts General Hospital. She then completed her neurology residency and vascular neurology fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Most recently, she completed a StrokeNet fellowship through the National Institutes of Health at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Dr. Garcia Guarniz is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Medical Association.

She is fluent in Spanish.
